This term, which literally means rejuvenating the skin with light, is usually applied to procedures employing intense pulsed light (IPL) and related technologies.
Unlike lasers that utilize monochromatic light, IPL employs light of various wavelengths to improve the appearance of photo-aged skin and reduce the visibility of most benign brown pigments and redness caused by capillaries.

Because photorejuvenation utilizes light encompassing a broad spectrum of wavelengths there are many potential benefits and multiple skin conditions can be treated.
