Laser Hair Removal
With today’s laser technology unwanted hair can be safely and permanently removed from most areas of the body including the face, axilla (armpits) and bikini areas. In just a few short sessions both men and women can have the confidence to “go bare” without the embarrassment of unwanted hair. Having offered the procedure since the late 1990’s, Dr. Joseph O’Connell is among the most experienced practitioners for laser hair removal.
Why laser hair removal at The Aesthetic Center is different
- All laser hair removal is performed by a specially trained female Registered Nurse in a quiet, private, spa-like environment.
- We use only LightSheer® lasers from Lumenis, including the new generation LightSheer® DESIRE.
- Pricing is by time, not area treated. This saves you time and money and lets you treat multiple areas more cost-effectively.
Laser Hair Removal FAQs
What laser is utilized for laser hair removal?
At The Aesthetic Center we use only LightSheer® diode lasers from Lumenis®, including their latest LightSheer® DESIRE. LightSheer® technology incorporates a patented Chill Tip to maximize your safety and comfort. LightSheer® is considered the “Gold Standard” for hair removal with its ability to treat most skin types, hair diameters and depths.
How many treatments are required for laser hair removal?
Because the laser only treats hairs that are in their active growth phase, multiple treatment sessions are required for full correction. The number of sessions will vary with each patient and body area.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is intended to provide long lasting or permanent reduction in hair growth.
What areas are commonly treated with laser hair removal?
For women, the lip, chin, bikini and underarm are the most common areas treated. Some women treat their legs, arms, abdomen and breasts. For men, the back, shoulder, upper arms and chest are the most popular areas for laser hair removal. It is possible to treat most areas of the body.
Can blonde hair and "peach fuzz" be removed with laser hair removal?
Unfortunately, we are unable to treat blonde, white or grey hair at this time and because of this, laser hair removal is best described as laser hair “reduction.”
What should I do prior to laser hair removal?
Patients planning laser hair removal should not wax, pluck or dye any hair they wish treated for about one month prior to laser treatment – you can shave as needed. Please do not sun tan any areas planned for treatment.
What is the cost of laser hair removal?
In our practice, rather than charging per area, cost is determined solely by treatment time and there is no charge for pre-treatment consultation. We find that our patients prefer this and appreciate the associated cost savings because sometimes, particularly after multiple treatments have been completed, areas only need to be treated in part.
