Browlifts
To get answers to the most frequent questions about browlifts, please select one of the links below:
What is a browlift?
A browlift is a procedure designed to rejuvenate the upper one-third of the face. The following problems can be improved: droopy eyebrows, hooding of the upper eyelids, transverse forehead wrinkles and the vertical "frown lines" in the area between the brows.

What type of browlift does Dr. O'Connell prefer?
Dr. O'Connell believes that because of the popularity and effectiveness of Botox® in treating facial wrinkles, the role of surgical brow lifting has increasingly become limited simply to raising the brows. Because of this the type of browlift Dr. O'Connell currently performs is most commonly a pre-hairline lift. This procedure raises the brows and is performed through incisions at the hairline on each side of the forehead. The scars are usually inconspicuous (see photo).

What type of anesthesia is used?
Dr. O'Connell most commonly performs pre-hairline browlift solely under local anesthesia.

Are there risks associated with browlifts?
As with any surgical procedure there are risks and potential complications. A thorough consideration of all risks, alternatives and potential benefits of any surgical procedure is an important part of the pre-operative consultative process.
